With their now confirmed official launching next month, South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics is very much expected to pull out all the stops in introducing its forthcoming smartphone flagships Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. And after months of leaked information about their actual specifications, their live videos have finally surfaced weeks ahead of their unveiling.
Business Insider reports that two new YouTube videos have surfaced indicating a powered on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. The videos revealed that the devices' screens are armed with rounded corners and not sharp corners, a feature that was seen on the recent leaks of their rival LG G6.
The same publication has also noted that the two videos alleging Samsung Galaxy S8's and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus' designs would include narrow top and bottom borders. As such, this design would allow the devices to have more screen space on their front surface. Meanwhile, the screen on both units will also have edge-to-edge curves that are similar to the firm's previous offering Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, a strong hint that Samsung might finally be done with its flagships' flat design.
GSMArena has shared that Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus physical "home button" along with their "back" and "recent apps" buttons have now been placed as touch buttons right on the bottom of the devices' screens. This new development is also a feature that has been seen on Samsung's recently released iterations.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus are also expected to sport a 3.5 mm audio jack, a USB Type-C port, a speaker, volume rocker, a dedicated Bixby button and a fingerprint scanner based on the two leaked videos. Both smartphones are expected to be unveiled on March 29.
