Two popular video-game based action movies opened yesterday in China. Both Sony's "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" earned as big as $ 32.6 million including $2 million only on its midnight grosses. 20th Century Fox's "Assassins Creed" also made up its numbers by earning $6.3 million for just a day since its launched date.
"Assassins Creed" one day gross that earned as much $6.3 million on its opening night in China; experts predicted that it would lead to at least $18 million just for the weekend which will eventually sum up around $35-$40 million for china alone. As for worldwide level, "Assassins Creed" May total to $250 million that will hit Japan and Tunisia next week.
The $125 million production budget "Assassins Creed" by the director Justin Kurzel made a huge hit in the largest country in Asia. The game-based movie might double or even triple its budget when it leaves theaters. Not a new franchise, but a sequel to the movie.
With the blockbuster result of "Assassins Creed," Ubisoft may think for another movie sequel for it. Ubisoft is now considering distancing the possible new movie from the previous one, as stated from the reports of Game Spew. If "Assassin Creed" will have its sequel, it will likely to focus more on its history scenarios, to revolve around the story between the conflicts of Templars and Assassins.
"Assassins Creed" recently took critics even though it ranks in terms of gross performance which it was graded a rating of 6.3 over 10 by IMDb; a site where professional reviewers got to critics movies. This indicates that despite its market performance there is lacking in the movie in terms of audience's perspective.
If ever you missed "Assassins Creed" in theaters DVD and Blu-Ray may eventually be available this May 2017. By the movie's performance, it will have its sequel, however, let's wait for the plans from Ubisoft. Stay tuned for more updates.
