Live images of what is believed to be the Xiaomi Mi 6 recently appeared on Chinese microblogging website Weibo. The smartphone is alleged to be the next flagship model in the Beijing-based company's Mi series. Xiaomi has yet to confirm whether the leaked images are real.
According to GSMArena, the alleged early images of the Xiaomi Mi 6 appears to be running MIUI. However, there is no Mi Logo on the front of the device, making it difficult to confirm whether it is a Xiaomi model or the rumored Mi 6. The latest live images also seemed to be different from earlier leaks. Previous photos showed a silver Home button just below the display, while the new images did not have one. The position of the front shooter was also different in the previous and recent leaks. Earlier photos presented a dual-led flash and camera on the back of the handset, while the new ones did not show the rear of the device at all.
Both renders of the rumored Xiaomi Mi 6 was shown in black, which strongly hints that it will be one of the available colors upon release. There are also talks that the Mi 6 will come in three variants, with different screen form factors, processors, and RAM capacities. The top-tier Mi 6 model is said to feature a ceramic body and 6GB of RAM.
Based on a report by Gadgets360, the recently leaked live images of the Xiaomi Mi 6 may be fake, due to the absence of a Mi logo and the lack or inconsistency of an impressive design. The source of the leak is also not reputable. According to rumors, the Mi 6 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 technology to offer fast-charging support. It may also have at least 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal memory, and a 4,000mAh battery. The device may be priced at around $365, while higher variants will cost more.
The alleged Xiaomi Mi 6 is obviously in its early stages of development and the company has yet to make an official announcement whether it will be arriving soon. Earlier in February 2017, the Chinese company introduced the Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus, which could mean that the next-generation flagship model may not be unveiled until later in the year. More updates and details on the Xiaomi Mi 6 are expected soon.
