‘Pokemon Go’ Tricks: Evolving Eevee Into An Umbreon Or Espeon Is Easier Than Previously Thought

The recent update on "Pokemon Go" had been very exciting so far. However, many players are confused because it looks like more mechanics have popped up. Among this is getting the latest evolutions of Eevee, which works very differently in getting older evolutions including Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon. Fortunately, some helpful people over the web have researched and revealed how night and day evolutions for Eevee work so that such can be evolved to get an Umbreon or Espeon.

Pokemon Go Hub reports that there are two different ways to obtain Umbreon and Espeon. These are using the one-time name trick or by evolving an Eevee under special circumstances. The latter technique can be used many times over and would generate the same results, unlike naming an Eevee Sakura or Tamao. The name trick has been present even in past evolutions of Eevee, where a player can name an Eevee Rainier or Sparky to end up with their desired evolutions.

In addition to that, "Pokemon Go" requires that the Eevee meet some requirements so that they can be evolved to an Umbreon or Espeon. First, each Eevee must have walked 10 km and have 2 candies collected as a player's buddy. It is also required that the Eevee the player seeks to evolve into, an Umbreon or Espeon, should be set as the buddy during evolution. If an Eevee gets evolved at night, one would get an Umbreon. Yielding one at day would produce an Espeon.

BGR reports that just like Pyro, Sparky, and Rainier, the given names Sakura and Tamao are actually references to the Pokemon anime series. Tamao and Sakura happen to be two of the five Kimono sisters and, as the reference in "Pokemon Go" goes, one can already guess what Pokemon these two own. This is a neat allusion to those who happen to be fans of the anime series. It is also a shortcut for those who want to add new Pokemon to their Pokedex as easily as possible.

This process was discovered when "Pokemon Go" player communities all the way from Germany and Croatia pooled their efforts to conduct research on this matter. They had over 23 Eevees walk 10 km as buddies. Their initial theory was that to obtain an Umbreon or Espeon, a trainer has to increase friendship with an Eevee.
