The new Apple MacBook Pro received complaints from its users for having problems with the revamped keyboard. The new keyboard uses a flatter keys built using a second-generation butterfly mechanism designed to optimize for stability and maximizing travel.
Most of the complain are attributed to the vastly different model compared to the previous generations of the MacBook Pro Models. They also said that the latest butterfly mechanism is less reliable to the older mechanisms.
In an article at 9 to 5 Mac written by Chance Miller, a MacRumors user named monstermac77 complained the sound the keyboard is making when the MacBook Pro is warm. For example, when the caps lock key is pressed, there is this overly-clicky sound that was heard.
Darren Allan of Tech Radar wrote that some users have worse problems than the sounds producing by some of the keys. In some cases, some keys on the MacBook Pro miss clicks, enter double letters or even refuse to respond at all.
He also noted that the butterfly mechanism of the Macbook Pro is too sensitive that it can be interrupted with even a little bit of dust. There are also some instances when the key suddenly became non-functional.
Another minor keyboard complaint of MacBook Pro is having an inconsistent feel across keys. Some users said that some keys feel spongier compared to the other keys. Again, this was blamed on the butterfly mechanism.
Brandon Russel of Techno Buffalo reported that some users of MacBook Pro try to solve the problem of butterfly mechanism by using a needle or other thin tool to have the consistency in pressing the keys. He noted that people should not do this at home as it could result in more damage to the device.
If there are problems with the keyboard of Macbook Pro, it is advised that users should go to the nearest Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider and get it fixed. In most cases, Apple stores are offering effective solutions such as repairs and replacements for the affected users.
