The mysterious nature of a letter-shaped monster in “Pokemon GO” is creating a noise among gamers. While every “Pokemon GO” player wants to capture Unown, the letter-shaped monster, about 50 percent of gamers are not even sure the character is in the game. Its air of mystique comes from Unown appearing in ancient ruins in the main games.
Mystique Resurfaces
Over time, Unown’s mystery faded and the letter-shaped monster became just another character in “Pokemon GO.” But the mystique resurfaced again as gamers attempt to figure out where would Unown show up in the first place. Among the questions in the mind of players are if the monster is assigned to special locations only and where could the character be found, Kotaku reports.
“Pokemon GO” has 26 Unown letter, based on what gamers have discovered online. The only method to acquire the associated medals is to collect every single letter. But as players have discovered, Unown is one of the rarest monsters in “Pokemon GO” and besides being rare, there are only a few variations of the monster online.
Big February Update
Unown would likely even become more difficult to find and capture with the big February update of “Pokemon GO” when 80 new monsters would be added to the popular virtual reality game. The addition of the 80 new monsters follows the big sweep of third-party Pokemon trackers. Since the game’s July 2016 release, more than a dozen third-party trackers were brought down as a result of cease-and-desist letters, Kotaku adds.
Only two working tracker apps are remaining in “Pokemon GO” for Android and three for iOS. These are PokiiMap and PokeSensor for Android which is also for iOS. In addition, there are also PokeTracker and PokeWhere for iOS. And there are PokeHunter.co and PokeSear.ch on the Web for U.S. or global.
Besides Unown, according to Polygon, one of the toughest and newest characters to capture in “Pokemon GO” is Togetic. The Game Master file places Togetic’s base capture rate at five percent. It places Togetic’s capture rate on the same level of difficulty as Dragonite, Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur that are first-gen monsters.
