Debut of Intel's 'Moorefield' ASUS MeMO Pad 8

The New Debut of Intel's 'Moorefield' ASUS MeMO Pad 8 is the first Moorefield-based device to be announced. KDDI plans to offer the new Android* tablet to their subscribers in Japan at the end of August. The Intel Atom Processor Z3580 provides an ideal combination of fast, smart performance and long battery life for Android devices.

The new Android tablet features a sleek and lightweight 8” design and will be offered to KDDI subscribers in three exclusive colors: pearl white, powder pink and metallic blue. Based on Intel’s 22nm Silvermont microarchitecture, the 64-bit-ready processor features four Intel architecture cores for up to 2.3 GHz of compute performance. The ASUS MeMO Pad 8 is part of an expanding portfolio of Intel-based devices from ASUS.

Intel’s first quarter came in consistent with expectations, demonstrating financial growth and a solid start to the year. For the first quarter, revenue came in at $12.8 billion up 1% from a year ago and in line with expectations. The company’s Internet of Things business grew over 30% in the first quarter on a year-on-year basis and we are driving significant innovation in this area as we invest to extend our architecture into the very low power space and acquire IP and capabilities.

PC Client Group revenue was down 1% from year ago. Intel saw PC Client Group platform unit volumes grow 1% year-over-year and inclusive of tablets saw high single-digit unit growth. PC platform average selling prices declined 3% on a year-on-year basis. The Data Center Group revenue grew 11% from a year ago with platform volumes up 3% and platform average selling prices up 8% over the same period. Some insights into the revenue results of Intel’s new segments. The Mobile and Communications Group was down 61% from a year ago.
