#AmazonCart Now Connects To Twitter. Connecting the Twitter and Amazon accounts allows users to communicate to Amazon that #AmazonCart requests coming from their Twitter account should be added toAmazon.com Shopping Cart. According to Bloomberg, Amazon hasn’t had much in the way of net income during its 20-year history, with $274 million earned for all of 2013 on sales of $74.45 billion.
Amazon, meanwhile, has built out a massive infrastructure of distribution centers and delivery options. The company’s expenses rose 23 percent in the first quarter, with fulfillment costs climbing 29 percent and technology and content costs jumping 44 percent reported Bloomberg.
“Twitter offers a great environment for our customers to discover product recommendations from artists, experts, brands and friends. #AmazonCart was designed to help customers add products to their cart now without leaving Twitter and come back later to shop and buy on Amazon,” said an Amazon spokesperson in an email to TechCrunch.
Without the Twitter link, Amazon would not know to which customer’s Cart to add the item. To edit connection preferences, users will visit their Social Settings or opt out of having Amazon respond to #AmazonCart requests. #AmazonCart only works for public Twitter accounts and tweets. Most of this content is public on Twitter, making #AmazonCart replies visible to whomever replied, to those viewing the conversation, and on the users own Timeline.
