Google Fiber's Citywide Expansion is poised to grow across numerous cities. Google Fiber offers super fast connectivity. At up to 1,000 Mbps, Google Fiber is 100 times faster than today's basic broadband, allowing its users to get what they want instantaneously. The Google Fiber TV app for Android is available at Google Play. Users can watch almost 200 HD channels and tens of thousands of shows and movies On Demand - all in one place.
The speed of online has made tools and resources more useful. User activities like streaming movies, storing files online, video chatting and more were all enabled by broadband connections over a decade ago, and the next chapter of the web will run on even faster speeds. Consumer interest remains strong with the need for faster broadband.
Google aims for consumers to access Google Fiber. Google Fiber is up to 100 times faster than basic broadband. Google Fiber will begin scoping the costs and timelines for building a new fiber-optic network. Google will conduct a detailed study of factors that affect construction plans, such as topography (e.g. hills, flood zones), housing density, and the condition of local infrastructure.
Citywide expansion is poised to reach 34 cities in 9 metro areas around the United States to explore what it would take to bring a new fiber-optic network to their community for Google Fiber. Google is asking cities to provide the company with information that can speed up planning and construction (e.g. maps of poles, conduit, existing water, gas, and electricity lines). Google also asks that they streamline processes (e.g. permitting procedures and access to local infrastructure) to make it easier for a construction process of this scale to move quickly.
