The wildly popular game was removed by the creator Dong Nguyen who took it off both the Google Play Store and the Apple app store. Dong Nguyen announced over the weekend that he was taking down Flappy Birds which was raking in as much as $50,000 a day through advertising revenue. We can only speculate why he removed the app. He says it was not because of legal issues and he says he is not interested in selling it. Some speculate that because he lives in Vietnam and has basically become wealthy overnight he may have faced threats of extortion or blackmail or simply gotten tired of the attention. In any case, as he promised on Twitter, he took down Flappy Bird.
I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore.

It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore.
— Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 8, 2014
I also don't sell 'Flappy Bird', please don't ask.
— Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 8, 2014
And I still make games.

Aside from downloading the Flappy Bird Android APK there is another option for those who don’t want to risk it. You can play Flappy Bird online with Flappy Bird 3D. Of course this isn’t the genuine app and it won’t be the same game that you expect, but it can tide you over if you choose not to download the Android APK. Unfortunately when downloading from third parties who have ripped the game and saved it on repositories you’re making a dice roll.
