Research from PWC indicates the consumer demand for entertainment and media (E&M) experiences, fuelled largely by the adoption of broadband and connected devices, will continue to grow and is expected growth to follow a similar trend to GDP development across the forecast period 2013-2017. However, given the shift towards digital media—typically lower priced than its physical counterpart PWC anticipates spend to lag behind GDP growth.
Within the global E&M market, digital will be the main driver of growth in the next five years, with revenues increasing at a CAGR of 11.9%. By 2017, digital revenues (including consumer spending on digital content, digital advertising spending and spending on Internet access) will account for 47% of the total, up from 35% in 2012.
