Jan 21, 2014 05:09 PM EST

The LG G Flex is the innovative curved display smartphone that is now on the market. Last week it became available for pre-order on Sprint for $300, it is now also on AT&T and will soon be on T-Mobile as well. AT&T will have the LG G Flex available on January 24 for $299.99 with a two-year contract. The LG G Flex will come to European markets next month in February. These include the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and Austria. Currently the LG G Flex has only been launched in South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore.

AT&T announced that the LG G Flex will be launched on Friday, January 24 for $300 on contract. Another alternative is a device contract rather than an AT&T service contract. This would take advantage of the AT&T Next program which would spread payment out either over 26 months or 20 months varying the monthly payment from either $26.74 or $34.75 a month. Either way the sticker price of the device will cost you $695 on AT&T if you use the Next program.

The key selling points of the LG G Flex curved flexible display is the fact that it can handle up to 88 pounds of weight on its back without breaking. The back is also resistant to scratches and is capable of self-healing making it a unique and innovative device. Though it has been reported that the screen develops bumps when subjected to too much pressure.  The LG G Flex specs and price mostly match up to the LG G2 though unfortunately the 6-inch display is 720p rather than 1080p, but in every other regard resembles the LG G2. AT&T Senior Vice President of Devices Jeff Bradley made the following statement in the press release which was accompanied by a video.

“We’re proud to offer the LG G Flex, our first smartphone with a curved screen, in the U.S. and add the device to the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president – Devices, AT&T. “We offer smartphones and devices to fit every lifestyle. There’s nothing quite like the LG G Flex to enhance viewing video and images. The unique design is great when using your thumbs to type a message and at the same time, delivers a great experience for video enthusiasts. Combined with AT&T’s premium network, the nation’s most reliable wireless service, you have an unbeatable combination of features and value.”

“LG G Flex represents the shape of innovation and LG’s technical design leadership in the mobile market,” said Morris Lee, senior vice president and head of North American sales and marketing, LG Mobile Communications Company. “Its unique curved display and curved battery, plus LG’s innovative rear key and Knock feature, make the LG G Flex an exciting device for AT&T customers.”
