WODBOX Review

Jan 02, 2014 04:26 PM EST

For the CrossFit crazies out there, there are many options for Workout Of the Day (WOD) apps to keep you updated on what your workout each day should be, but I prefer WODBOX. With Facebook integration, journals and timers, and three different ways to find your WODs, it’s hard to bead WODBOX. If you’re an athlete that has a presence on Facebook, just sign on in and all of your friends and followers can keep up with your performance and progress so you can spread the inspiration. You also get an in-app profile to keep track of your journal entries, personal bests, and “weapons” (the equipment you have at your disposal.) If you need to time yourself for a specific workout, like Tabata or AMRAP, you have those tools as well. As far as choosing your workout, you have three options: Genius, Hopper, and News Feeds. Genius is a premium feature that asks your goals, equipment, and time, and provides you with the perfect WOD. Genius takes away the excuse that you don’t have the time or equipment by giving you a workout that will work with your current restraints. You can also use the hopper to find your desired WOD.

If you already know about different CrossFit WODs, you can cycle through them by alphabetical order in order to find your desired workout. Lastly, you can follow a newsfeed of whichever crossfit gym you desire and get updates everyday about what the WOD is. If you don’t like what the gym in Houston is doing today, try out the San Diego crossfit workout of the day. Like most apps that I review, WODBOX is free to download and use, to a point. There are a few premium features that cost extra money, anywhere from $1-2 depending on the feature. For example, the ability to import and export your journals, Tabata timer, and Genius all cost extra. All purchases remove ads, although I didn’t realize there were ads until I wrote this review, so they are not very obstructive. I recommend trying out WODBOX and then deciding whether or not the premium features are worth the extra money.
