BLU Life Pure Is High-End, Affordable

You may not have heard too much about BLU Products yet, but the Miami-based firm is quickly making a name for itself with a line of fairly high-end and affordable smartphones geared toward the image-conscious crowd.

Last week, the company announced its latest device, the BLU Life Pure, which aside from being a nice-looking phone also packs a 13-megapixel camera, 1080p display and a $349 price tag for the unlocked version. At $350 with no contract, the new handset is definitely something of a steal and that doesn’t even take into account the fact that the phone is apparently “hand crafted” to some degree.

"The Life Pure as its name suggests is art in its purest form, created from a single piece polycarbonate using the latest CNC technology, then each individually hand crafted, resulting in beautifully designed hardware," said Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of BLU Products in a press statement. "When combined with equally stunning software, the final result is a device that should be appreciated as different and captivating to look at."

If that spiel doesn’t sell you on the BLU Life Pure’s aesthetics, then maybe the camera app will. The company says “auto beauty effects” as well as “instant facial beauty support” are already baked in and perfect for selfies.

The phone’s other specs are nothing to laugh at either. It boasts a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, the BLU Life Pure runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and there’s no word yet on whether anyone is developing a custom KitKat ROM.

“Maintaining a focus on good looks, The BLU Life Pure uses a Full HD 1080p 5-inch display with 441 PPI from JDI (Japan Display, Inc.) resulting in sharpness, brightness, contrast, viewing angles, and performance which are among the best available today on any smartphone device in the world, paired with an extremely thin bezel and smaller frame which is the perfect size to handle, in addition to OGS and full lamination technologies on the touch panel, resulting in an extremely thin design of just 7.7mm,” the company said.

The BLU Life Pure comes in matte black and ceramic white and is already shipping to U.S. brick-and-mortar stores as well as online retailers.
