Samsung today announced that it would begin offering the Galaxy Note 3 in three additional colors, though it was unclear if and when the new colors would become available stateside. The new Galaxy Note 3 colors include a “merlot red” model, as well as two rose-gold variants with a black or white accent.
“As part of its continued commitment to deliver innovative technologies along with premium design, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced new color editions of the Galaxy Note 3,” the company said in a press statement. “Both editions complement the iconic Rose Gold Galaxy Gear to provide users with a truly integrated and stylish Galaxy experience.”
While reception for the Galaxy Note 3 has been fairly warm so far, Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch has had a rougher time finding its stride. Initially, the watch was compatible only with the Galaxy Note 3 and while the company has added a few additional devices, Gear is still crippled by its several limited feature set. Samsung claims it has sold over 800,000 units, though it’s unclear whether that means 800,000 Gears are in the wild or have simply been shipped to retailers. Additionally, it’s been reported that over 30 percent of Galaxy Gears sold are being returned.
Samsung currently offers the Galaxy Note 3 in classic white and jet black. There is also a light-pink version that is considerably less common, but has been spotted on occasion.
“At Samsung Mobile, we understand that consumers view their mobile devices as an extension of their personal style, and Samsung is committed to delivering fresh ways for consumers to express themselves,” said Younghee Lee, executive vice president of global marketing, IT & mobile division at Samsung Electronics. “By introducing these new editions of Galaxy Note 3, we want to provide our fashion-forward consumers with more ways to express their personality and tastes through our technology.”
According to Android Central, the new Galaxy Note 3 colors were previously unveiled in Argentina last week. At the time, it was unclear whether the new handsets would see a debut in any other country, but today they were announced in China, where they’ll launch sometime later this month. Samsung has stated that additional rollouts of the new colors will be determined “according to each market’s preference,” but the company did not elaborate.
