Movea is the leading provider of data fusion and motion-processing. The company announced earlier this month its availability of the indoor navigation design suite for Android 4.3 and higher. Movea aims to enable technology organizations to leverage indoor navigation solutions for map and positioning applications and advertising.
The new API enables high level processing for motion accuracy. Movea uses MotionCore, an application programming interface (API) for Android devices. MotionCore is sensor agnostic and allows Android apps to connect with sensors from any manufacturer. Android mobile-device manufacturers can diversify and mix sensors.
Android users can easily get frustrated while seeking out parking within an urban city. The process of searching for the parking spot and driving can be time consuming. Movea’s solutions are geared to find a solution to pedestrian parking. “As the demand for location-based services continues to increase, we are bringing our groundbreaking indoor pedestrian solution to the Android platform, providing the industry with accurate dead reckoning, map matching and data fusion techniques – key elements in delivering a reliable, sensor-based indoor navigation solution,” said Wahid Issa, Movea’s VP of marketing. “Our ultimate goal with this indoor navigation design suite is to allow new services enabled by Movea’s unique capabilities and large patent pool to get one step closer to making indoor navigation a reality. We’re providing a unique embedded solution optimized for mobile device constraints that provides robust and accurate positioning while maintaining ultra low power consumption.”

Movea lets users receive turn-by-turn directions indoor as well as outdoors. The company currently hosts a portfolio of more than 500 patents. There are many sensor hubs that can be deployed today for various industries. According to Juniper Research, The combination of smartphone proliferation, a surge in application storefront launches and new developments in hybrid positioning technologies are expected to help drive revenues from mobile location-based services (MLBS) to more than $12.7 billion by 2014. Mobile adoption is providing growth and greater opportunities.
The indoor navigation design suite allows Android application developers to integrate data for mobile devices. Movea’s Android 4.3 version lets developers work with raw sensor data at the application level. Through the solution, developers can explore orientation-based motion processing and data fusion techniques. Movea allows OEMs and Android applications developers to integrate valuable data including users’ trajectory, step and distance calculation outputs into location-based end-user applications. The design suite features cutting edge technologies.
