Ouya’s microconsole has reached over 500 games through its Discover storefront. The downloaded games met a milestone after it was announced by Ouya founder Julie Uhrman on the company blog that more than 25,000 developers were registered. 2013 was a fantastic year for gaming hardware. Game industry console revenues are expected to rise throughout this year. Ouya also is set to release a new hardware revision for next year.

Videogame software revenue from micro-consoles is rapidly growing however represent less than 10% of TV-centric digital gaming spend in 2017. According to IDC, “The number of game console bundles shipped world-wide this year will be "marginally higher" than the 33 million bundles shipped in 2012, potentially snapping a four-year slide in shipments as the next generation of consoles hits the market.” "The number of online console gamers around the globe is on pace to exceed 165 million by 2017," stated Lewis Ward, gaming research manager at IDC.
Competitors such as XBox One, PS4 and other major gaming consoles will also be looking to gain more consumer demand for the upcoming holiday season.
