Nov 07, 2013 04:28 PM EST

An Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is already rolling out to Galaxy Note 3 users in Europe, no doubt garnering envy from Note 3 owners in other regions. For those not fortunate enough to get the latest build via Samsung KIES, a manual installation method is available and outlined below.

The firmware build is designated N9005XXUDMJ7 and is meant for Galaxy Note 3 handsets with the model number SM-N9005.

As always, DroidReport assumes no liability for the firmware installation. Proceed with caution.

Before Getting Started

Before you get started, make sure that your Galaxy Note 3 is unlocked and rooted. As always, you want to backup your device and charge it to at least 80 percent.

Finally, enable USB Debugging mode by navigating to Settings -> Developer Options.

Updating Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

1) Download and extract the Android 4.3 firmware, which can be found here.

2) Download and extract Odin.

3) Launch Odin.

4) Boot your Galaxy Note 3 into Download mode by pressing the Volume Down, Power and Home buttons together until a warning prompt appears. Once you see the prompt, press Volume Up to enter download mode.

5) Using your USB cable, connect your Note 3 to your computer.

6) Using Odin, install the following files from the firmware archive unzipped earlier:

            A) Press PDA and choose the file with the word “CODE” in the filepath.

            B) Press Phone and choose the file with the word “MODEM” in the filepath.

            C) Press CSC and choose the file with “CSC” in the filepath.

            D) Press PIT and choose the file ending in .pit.

7) Navigate to the Option submenu in Odin and check Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time. Uncheck Re-Partition.

8) Click Start and the installation will begin.

9) When the firmware has finished flashing to your Galaxy Note 3, you should see a PASS message.

10) Once the PASS message appears, your phone will restart and you will officially be running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Kudos.
