Samsung's First Global Developers Conference

Nov 01, 2013 05:04 PM EDT

Samsung’s first global developers conference on Oct. 27-29 in San Francisco attracted over 1,300 attendees at the St. Francisco Westin Hotel. The company aims to attract more loyalty. Samsung featured its future gadgets as becoming more connected to each other by optimizing its future apps for the Samsung platform. “Samsung is creating one of the largest connected platforms spanning a broad range of devices,” the company said.

Why a conference for software developers? Enterprise companies Apple, Google and Microsoft have been on top of media offerings and communication tools to connect others with their services. Samsung’s developer conference was in efforts for the company to further build on its connections through encouraging developer loyalty.

The economic climate also results in increased pressure for companies to focus on retaining loyalty. Securing greater service and customer loyalty can be substantial. Loyalty can lead to long-term strategies, which may involve improving efficiency levels. Samsung currently holds the highest worldwide market share for smartphones.

The conference focused on several different sessions including mobile development, TV and gaming. “We have over 50 different tracks and sessions, so we’re covering a large scale of different technologies and business opportunities,” stated Curtis Sasaki, senior vice president of Samsung’s Media Solutions Center of America.

Samsung relies on Android open source platform for its smartphone devices. Rabbit’s video chat and content sharing platform had also announced it partnership with Samsung developers. The application runs on Samsung’s Android devices and Smart TVs. Rabbit is expected to launch in 2014. The company expects its devices to “communicate more with each other” in the future.

Samsung also announced the release of five SDKs. The new software development kits were created for developers to develop consumer apps and devices for its enterprise customers. The company stated the SDKs were more streamlined. Samsung presently does not have a proprietary software platform to offer unique services.

The majority of Samsung’s devices are sold through Google’s Android OS. As a result, the benefits are not geared toward Samsung. The conference is an outlet for Samsung to further encourage developers to work with Android. Applications are compatible with Android smartphones. The event also was in place to influence more developers to build applications across different areas such as tablets, smartphones and TVs.  Data security was also introduced.

Loyalty with enterprises has taken off very well. Samsung is offering such loyalty incentives free for developers. Agreed. Branding has the potential for creating memorable experiences for developers. Android is a top platform with consumer demand. The enterprise companies have a lot of competition within the smartphone market. Coming up with the best technology solutions and initiatives is crucial to engaging consumers. To build better brand loyalty, it appears Samsung is now taking some great moves ahead.
