When everyone is currently waiting for Samsung's upcoming phablet Note 8, a new Samsung Galaxy device has surfaced on Geekbench. The device is rumored to be the Samsung Galaxy S9. It's not much time since Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus were launched so it is too early to say anything about its successor.
According to the Geekbench listing, the mysterious smartphone is using Snapdragon 845 chipset which even Qualcomm hasn't announced yet, but generally, the company provides samples in advance to the manufacturer for testing purpose. One thing goes against it called as Samsung Galaxy S9 is its 4GB RAM but this is the only prototype, the final product would be different from this. The device is spotted running on the Android 7.1.2 version.
The listing also revealed its model number as SM-G9650 that indicates for next Galaxy S smartphone as previous variants S8 and S7 use SM-G95XX and SM-G93XX respectively. Apart from this, a Twitter user also claims it as Samsung Galaxy S9, as reported by Globe Mobiles.
According to GSM Arena, another Samsung device under SM-G96XX model series has also been spotted on Geekbench. The listing reveals SDM845 SoC, which is rumored to be Snapdragon 845. So, a model number series that should preferably be for a 2018 Galaxy S flagship, plus Snapdragon 845 SoC, plus reports that Samsung is eyeing SD845 for its next S series flagship, which is Samsung Galaxy S9.
The leaked handset on GSM Arena is seen running on Nougat OS as Android 8.0 is not yet out there for Samsung's heavily skinned TouchWiz UI. These are initial leaks, so nothing is can be said about how the final product will look alike. However, Samsung is right now planning to launch the Galaxy Note 8 on the August 23 this year.
