Xiaomi Redmi 5 smartphone is reportedly in the works. However, a Weibo user claims that he has concrete details regarding the upcoming Redmi 5 including prices, variants, and specifications.
According to the Weibo tipster, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will have a starting price of CNY 859 for the 3GB RAM + 16GB ROM variant. There will be two more options: CNY 1,039 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM, and CNY 1,099 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM. By going with this price structure, alleged Redmi 5 looks to be a bit costlier as compared to the Xiaomi Redmi 4, as reported by NDTV.
The same tipster has also shared images that purportedly show the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5. Going by the images, the alleged Xiaomi Redmi 5 design looks to be much similar as of the Redmi Note 4.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 leak was first spotted by Android Crunch. On the specifications, Redmi 5 is tipped to have the 5-inch full-HD display, dual-SIM support, 16-megapixel rear camera, expandable storage support, 5-megapixel front camera, and 3680mAh battery. The upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5 is rumored to run on MIUI 9.0 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The battery of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will come with the support of Quick Charge 3 for faster charging of the smartphone. The device will come with 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and other useful connectivity options as well.
According to the leak, Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 or 630 octa-core processor with Adreno 508 GPU. The smartphone will be having a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, similar to the Redmi Note 4.
Last week, the retail box of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, which is one of the variants of rumored Xiaomi Note 5, has been leaked online. Redmi Note 5A will be the smaller variant of Redmi 5, just like Redmi Note 4A.
