Moto X Play is finally confirmed to get Android 7.0 Nougat update as Motorola India confirmed recently. The smartphone received an update of Android 6.0 Marshmallow about a year ago.

Anxious Moto X Play users have been asking Motorola about the update for a while, but the US-based company avoided any communication on the matter. However, today, Motorola India has confirmed via Twitter that Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Moto X Play is in the works and will arrive soon, as reported by Phone Arena.

The Android Nougat update has already been long overdue and on top of that, delay in launch is quite disappointing for the Moto X Play users, according to The Android Soul. Motorola gave the news of the Android Nougat update for the Moto X Play while replying to a user's question. Motorola has tweeted that "Nougat will come to the Moto X Play soon; however, we are unable to provide a definite release date."

In the meantime, new reports claim that Android Nougat is now running on nearly 10 percent of the smartphones. However, companies have been working extensively to provide Nougat updates to their smartphones.

To recall, the Moto X Play was also spotted running Android 7.1.1 Nougat in GFXBench benchmark in December 2016. This smartphone was reportedly under the company's soak test, through which Motorola releases the update to select users for verifying and fixing any issues.

Moto X Play is coming with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2 GB RAM and either 16 GB or 32 GB of onboard storage. On the camera side, Moto X Play boasts a 21 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front-facing camera. The device is carrying a 3,630 mAh battery. The smartphone is available at a starting price of INR 13,500.
