Android Nougat Update Roll Out For T-Mobile Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge By Harsh Soni h_soniji@rediffmail.com | Jun 06, 2017 06:42 AM EDT T-Mobile has began rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to its version of the Galaxy S6 Edge+. Now, the other Samsung Galaxy S6 models have started receiving their taste of Nougat. For now, the Android Nougat update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge doesn't show up over at T-Mobile's support website, as reported by Phone Arena. T-Mobile Product Manager, Des Smith @askdes confirmed that the Android Nougat update should be available to both handsets "this week." No exact dates were highlighted, so the software might start hitting T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge as early as sometime this evening. This means that users with either phone on the T-Mobile network who are waiting for the Android Nougat software may want to periodically check for the software update. Of course, since the week has just begun so it might take a while before all T-Mobile S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users to see the Android Nougat update on their smartphone. As in the case of T-Mobile's Galaxy S6 edge+, that received its Nougat update several weeks back, the S6 and S6 edge are likely getting Android 7.0 Nougat, not the newer 7.1 version, according to Android Headlines. With the update, the change will include a hefty-sized file download that is likely to weigh in at over 1GB and take up a nice amount of space. With such a large file users are advised to initiate and complete the download while connected to a Wi-Fi network if at all possible. The user should also make sure that their battery is charged up to at least 50 percent or more. With Android Nougat, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners on T-Mobile will be treated to a slew of new improvements and features like improved Doze Mode, Google Assistant access, better device management, potentially better battery life, and a handful of other changes. Both Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have released over two years ago with Android 5.0 Lollipop on board. It's, however, good to see that at least some Android phones are getting major updates even after 2 years from launch.
