Chinese Phone ZTE Nubia Z17 Features Snapdragon 835 Chips & 8GB RAM By Vittorio Hernandez | Jun 02, 2017 12:18 PM EDT A growing number of phones manufactured by Chinese companies are no longer just mere copycats of the big phone brands such as Apple and Samsung. ZTE, for instance, just announced a new model, the ZTE Nubia Z17, with impressive specs. The upcoming phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and has 8GB RAM. With these two specs, plus a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, 128GB of internal storage, 3,200mAh battery, and Quick Charge 4+, the ZTE Nubia Z17 is touted to be the most powerful to come out of China so far, The Verge notes. It is the second phone with 8GB RAM and the second phone from China to sport the Snapdragon 835 SoC after the Xiaomi Mi 6. However, the ZTE Nubia Z17 is the first to support Quick Charge 4+ from Qualcomm. With the feature, in 25 minutes, the phone’s battery will charge 50 percent. Other impressive specs include the phone being water resistant, supporting Dolby Atmos and coming with an IR blaster. GSM Arena adds that the ZTE Nubia Z17 has a 23MP and 12 MP camera combination on the back which supports two times optical zoom and a maximum 10 times Dynamic zoom. It selfie shooter is 16MP, features f/2.0 aperture and comes with an 80-degree wide-angle lens. The Chinese phone with an Android 7.1.1 Nougat as its OS and has a Nubia UI 5.0 on top has top footballer Cristiano Ronaldo of the Spanish club, Real Madrid, as its endorser. The announcement in Beijing of the ZTE Nubia Z17 comes just barely two months after the Chinese phone giant rolled out the ZTE Nubia Z17 mini. It also joins the bezel-less trend started by Samsung, although only its left and right bezels are gone, while the ZTE phone still has big top and bottom bezels. It still has a Home button and a fingerprint scanner found at the back.
