Dell Is Now Trying To Focus On Affordable Entry-Level With Its Inspiron Gaming Desktop

Dell is now trying to offer several affordable ways into PC gaming that its high-end Alienware line. The latest attempt is the Inspiron Gaming Desktop, which is a very entry-level desktop PC that starts at $600 but can be upgraded into a much more expensive and capable machine.

At its base configuration, PC World noted that the Inspiron Gaming Desktop has an AMD A10 processor, an AMD Radeon RX560, a 1TB hard drive, and 8GB of RAM. This configuration was said to be sold for just $99 and is one of the lower-end models in AMD's line of the affordable graphics card.

All of this configuration mentioned above can be upgraded quite a bit. Inspiron Gaming Desktop can bu configured with a Ryzen 7 processor, a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, an SSD boot drive, and a 32GB of RAM. The case can also be set up with liquid cooling, lights, and a transparent side so that users can see the internal components.

However, not all of that is going can be purchased at launch. Dell wasn't able to provide with all the pricings on those upgrades. During a certain briefing, tech enthusiasts were told to expect to price as high as $2,000 which is a long way away from the Inspiron Gaming Desktop's starting price at $600.

There isn't really one super coherent story behind this PC. Instead, it's just a very scalable machine that gives Dell a lot of options to sell, so it can target gamers at different price points.

According to Ars Technica, Dell earlier this year introduces the Inspiron 14 and 15 to begin offering less expensive gaming laptops. It looks like consumers can see the Inspiron line expand to give Dell a way to appeal to every gamer who aren't ready to put a budget on Alienware's higher prices.

Most companies that manufacture gaming PCs and laptops are trying to pull the attentions of new casual gamers. These customers either can't afford to spend thousands of dollars on a high-end gaming device.
