Xiaomi Latest News: Mi Max 2 Launched With A Bigger Battery, Better Camera & More By Van D | May 26, 2017 06:20 PM EDT Xiaomi's latest product line has been nothing short of stellar. Aside from being able to deliver smooth performance, it has features that can go head-to-head with some of the more expensive phones on the market. However, the most appealing aspect of Xiaomi's phones is its price. This brand truly offers more bang for the buck. This is why millions of their phones have been sold worldwide. Earlier this year, Xiaomi announced the Mi 6 as the brand's flagship smartphone. Recently, Xiaomi released another phone, the Mi Max 2, at an event in Beijing. Watch the live stream recording below. This will reportedly be available in China starting June 1 and will be priced at around $247. This marks the second generation of one of Xiaomi's bestsellers, the Mi Max. The predecessor quickly rose to become one of the best selling phablets because of its battery life, large display, responsive finger print scanner and its smooth performance. Fans of the brand have been expecting the Mi Max 2 to be launched alongside the Mi 6, so a lot were frustrated when it was not announced. Fortunately, the company caught up and released the Mi Max 2. Tech Crunch notes that Xiaomi has sold over three million units of the original Mi Max. It was headlined because of its large display. While the first one already had great reviews for its battery life, Xiaomi plans to take this to another plane. The Mi Max 2 will feature a whopping 5300mAh battery that can last for two days on one single charge. The device can charge to 68 percent in just one hour. When charged up to 100 percent, the user can run up to 18 hours of video or enjoy as much as 57 hours of talk time. The Mi Max 2 features the same 6.44-inch screen. Unlike its predecessor, however, it packs an improved unibody metal design. It comes with 4GB of RAM and users can pick between 64GB or 128GB of storage. The device features a 12MP camera in front and a 5 megapixel selfie camera. The fingerprint sensor is still mounted on the rear side. This device will be powered by an octacore 2.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. GSM Arena says that the rear camera would be the same one found on the Xiaomi Mi 6. It has Sony's IMX386 sensor, which comes with 1.25um pixels. On the software side, the Mi Max 2 features the home baked Mi UI, while a split screen feature is currently under development for multi-tasking options.
