Apple To Offer Free Smart Keyboard Repairs Under Latest Three Years Policy By Dipta Bhattacharya staff@droidreport.com | May 10, 2017 05:16 PM EDT Apple is all set to cover the repairs cost for its Smart Keyboard iPad accessory, but with more than one year warranty and as per latest reports, the repair warranty would be for three years. This is because the company has recently found out that some keyboards might experience functional issues during use. According to The Verge, as per an internal memo sent to authorized repair providers and retail stores, the tech giant mentioned about the potential defects that some unit might face, these include stuck keys, unresponsive keys, issues connecting to the iPad through the tablet's Smart Connector. The Smart Keyboard comes in two sizes, 9.7 inch and 12.9-inch versions that are similar to the two iPad Pro sizes. The cost of the smaller keyboard is around $150 and the bigger keyboard is $170. All Apple devices were covered by the company's 12-month limited warranty during launch, so the latest program just offers two years extra warranty of the keyboards. However, it doesn't cover the tablets within it. Also, if the user has requested a replacement of the keyboard that would have been covered by the program, Apple would also issue a refund for it. Interestingly, Apple also extends the time frame during which it would conduct the free repairs when it discovers that hardware issues have been affecting its products. Since most Apple device users aren't yet aware of the new policy, the tech experts have advised them to call Apple Store and schedule a Genius Bar appointment, MacRumors reported. The Apple Smart Keyboard users can also visit any Apple Authorized Service Provider to start the repair process. In fact, the affected customers can also contact Apple support through the phone. Email or chat. Due to the newness of the policy, some Apple employees might not be able to offer the help immediately, in that case, users can consult a senior AppleCare advisor.
