Snapdragon 845 SoC Spotted On Qualcomm Site Using 7nm Process By Harsh Soni h_soniji@rediffmail.com | May 09, 2017 05:04 PM EDT Even though Qualcomm is busy right now in making amends for its 'short supplied' Snapdragon 835 SoC which is delaying many smartphone launches, leaks on its future SoCs don't stop. Now, it appears the next flagship mobile processor is in the works, as Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC has reportedly been spotted on the company site alongside. Also, a fresh report claims that the Snapdragon 845 processor is in the works. It will be built on a new faster and more efficient 7nm fabrication process. Moreover, the new SoC will debut on the Samsung Galaxy S9 next year, the leak tips. As spotted by Win Future on the company site in a listing that's since been removed now, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (SDM845) was listed along with the Snapdragon 660 (SDM660) and Snapdragon 630 (SDM630). The report also adds that the Snapdragon 845 SoC will be revealed this year, and will ship to smartphones in early 2018. On the other hand, IT Homes report says that work on the new 7nm process has been started by TSMC, and it is now in a trial production stage. The 7nm process can be housed in a smaller frame and will improve performance by up to 25 to 30 percent as compared to the current 10nm process. The IT Homes report also adds that Snapdragon 845 SoC's work is also underway and will be launched in early 2018, and will reportedly debut on the Samsung Galaxy S9. The processor is built on the 7nm process, however, the process won't be exclusive to the Snapdragon 845 SoC only. Huawei, Nvidia, and MediaTek will also introduce custom-made chips built on the new 7nm process, as reported by NDTV. The Snapdragon 845's predecessor, the Snapdragon 835 SoC has been in the news lately, for delaying the launch of several smartphones this year. Most notably was in the news because Samsung had called first dibs on the processor by hoarding the lion's share of the initial stock.
