The rumors suggest the arrival of Pro 5 at Microsoft's May 2 education based event. However, the rumor didn't prove true. In fact, instead of Surface Pro 5, the tech giant released Windows 10 S running Surface Laptop. Sadly, the Corporate Vice President, Panos Panay didn't give enough positive hints about the arrival of the latest Surface Pro device.

Panay has something else to say when asked if after one and a half year later of Surface Pro 4, the users can expect the arrival of its successor. The Vice President mentioned that it was fine if the present generation doesn't want to buy a Surface Pro 4.However, according to Neowin, when asked about the fifth generation, Panay mentioned, "You'll see that same meaningful impact when Pro 5, or Pro Next hits the market," and that at this time, "there's no such thing as a Pro 5."

The first information about the Surface Pro 5 arrived recently. It claimed the device would include a Kaby Lake processor. It appeared as if Microsoft is simply refreshing the Surface Pro 4 with a new Intel Processor. Also, while explaining as to why Microsoft would bring a Surface Pro 5 ONMSFT reported, Panay said, "Meaningful change isn't necessarily a hardware change, which is what a lot of people look for. They're like, 'Where's the latest processor?' That's not what I mean. I'm looking for an experiential change that makes a huge difference in product line."

As examples, Panay mentioned that the reduced weight and larger battery life would make the Surface Pro 5 a better option. He further added that processor updates are simply incremental updates to the present hardware. Keeping Panay's comments in mind, it is unlikely that the new Surface Pro would arrive anytime soon. As latest news suggest Microsoft would be going to Shanghai and might reveal some new products there.
