For years already, the Microsoft Surface Pro tablets have dominated the charts for being the best professional hybrid device. This cannot be helped as the Surface Pro has always adopted the best hardware around and it is also adapted for maximum productivity.

Later this year, Microsoft looks set to extend their line in the tablet industry when they will release the much rumored and anticipated Surface Pro 5 but Samsung is not going to keep quiet about it. The South Korean tech giant wants to compete with the Surface Pro 5 with the already launched Samsung Galaxy Book.

According to GSM Arena, the Samsung Galaxy Book comes in two sizes - 10.6" and 12". The first variant is Wi-Fi only and can be purchased at Samsung's online store and select retailers, including Best Buy. Device is starting from $629.99 for the 4GB RAM + 64 GB storage version. There's also a variant with 128 GB eMMC, and the Samsung Galaxy Book has a microSD slot that can give you up to 256 GB extra storage.

There is also 12" Samsung Galaxy Book. The version with a SIM card slot starts from $1.299,99 while the Wi-Fi only is a tad cheaper - $1.129,99. The bigger hybrid is also more powerful - while an Intel Core i5 7200 U processor ticks in the 12" Galaxy Book, the 10.6" one has an Intel Core m3 chipset.

On the other hand, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to have an improved display, Intel's latest Kaby Lake architecture, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, a revamped Surface Pen stylus with wireless charging feature and a lightweight aluminum body. The upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will keep the Surface Connect port, the power connector which is found on the current-gen Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book.

For the release, the current speculations suggest that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be launched in fall. Microsoft is expected to launch Windows 10 Cloud on May 2 during an event and possibly new hardware which will run the new Windows 10 variant and if this happens, then Redmond will effectively be facilitating new competitors of its Surface Pro.
