TrendForce Predicts No 4GB RAM On iPhones Until 2018 By Debapriya Dutta debapriyadutta54@gmail.com | May 04, 2017 04:34 PM EDT On Wednesday, this week TrendForce published their prediction on smartphones. They suggested that by the end of this year the smartphones will have an average of 3.2 GB of RAM, which is an increase of 33.4 percent over last year's average of 2.4 GB. As TrendForce said, the buyers should not expect more than 3 GB of RAM in the upcoming iPhone 8. According to GSM Arena, TrendForce has predicted that the 10th anniversary iPhone, which is tipped to be the iPhone 8 will carry 3 GB RAM and has warned the users to not expect 4 GB of memory. Also, the experts have said there is no positive chance that Apple will bring any iPhone with more than 3 GB RAM before next year. TrendForce has predicted that the 5.8-inch AMOLED iPhones and the 5.5-inch LCD iPhones should be carrying 3 GB RAM while the 4.7-inch LCD models will have a RAM of 2 GB. In recent times the smartphone companies have inclined to higher memory for their products largely due to consumer demand and performance necessities. In today's date, most of the high-end android smartphones have a minimum of 4 GB RAM. According to TrendForce, the rising cost of memory is making things a bit difficult for Apple to maintain its product cost under check. This means Apple will probably not be able to roll out iPhone devices with higher memory. The limited supply in the mobile DRAM market means Apple will only provide a maximum of 3 GB RAM in its higher-end iPhone handsets and will stick with 2 GB memory with its smaller ones. Talking about the market of DRAM, Analysts Avril Wu stated: "Since mobile devices became a major application segment for DRAM market, shipments and average memory content of smartphones have been closely connected with the relationship between the overall supply and demand." TrendForce will hold its CompuForum 2017 at Taipei International Convention Centre on May 31. People hope that more news regarding this issue will probably be discussed.
