OnePlus 5 News: CEO Teases OnePlus 5, The Smartphone Will Arrive Sooner Than Expected By Staff Reporter | May 03, 2017 03:34 AM EDT The upcoming OnePlus 5 has been confirmed to be in the works by CEO and co-founder of OnePlus, Pete Lau. Pete recently posted an image on Weibo which depicts a phone with gears being worked on by engineers as a bystander watches excitedly. The picture also comes with the words "indulge in labor without a break, just to make a big surprise", followed by OnePlus' hashtag "#NeverSettle". OnePlus 3T won many awards, including CNET's editor choice award. OnePlus would be naming their device OnePlus 5, and not OnePlus 4, as the number "4" is considered to be unlucky in China.OnePlus 5 news suggests that the smartphone would arrive very soon in the coming months to pose a direct threat to Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8. The company's latest offering, the OnePlus 3T, has won hearts all over the world, as it gave the users access to a blazingly fast SnapDragon 821 SoC with an Octa-core chip, at a price that was less than half of the Google Pixel. This time around OnePlus seems to be upping its game by giving a product that is great to look at and also has great features. The great big OnePlus 5 news is that the phone is reportedly getting a SnapDragon 835 SoC, which is only available to the Xiaomi Mi 6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 as of now. The phone also would get a bezel-less display without a physical home button. It is expected that the phone would come with an IP68 rating, and would have its fingerprint on the back, under the camera lens. As reported by PCPop, this time around OnePlus is gearing to provide a dual lens camera like the iPhone 7 Plus, which might have a wide angle monochrome lens. Other than this more OnePlus 5 news suggest that the phone is expected to come with a massive 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM. OnePlus 5 is being teased with an improved battery of 3500 mAh, and also is coming with a 5.5-inch 2K screen.
