Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus Are Having Bad Issues; Restarting For No Reason

Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus had been out for more than a week now, and early buyers had the chance to test the devices in the wild. Several issues were reported such as the red display problem that Samsung already patched, wireless charging problems, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues in Korea. Aside from these issues, Samsung Galaxy S8 might have an even more serious problem like some Galaxy S8 units reboot for no reason.

According to XDA developer forums, several buyers are complaining with their Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are randomly rebooting for no reason at all. User Gekidami stated that the smartphone screen will have some artifacts appear then the device just restarts. The restart issue also happens in safe mode too, where it doesn't appear to be an app causing it.

Samsung Electronics told the affected buyers to send it back to the retailers and ask for a replacement. It's still blurry at this time what causes the problem. Some say it might be related to the biometrics; having both the fingerprint reader and the face recognition feature enabled at the same time locks up the phone.

Another user also claimed that the phone might be getting stuck in some low power state and it's not coming back, in which may have to do something to do with the Always On Display feature. While others theorized it has something to do with the microSD card that's used with the phone.

Unfortunately, these unwanted and annoying reboots happen quite frequently. Users who have exchanged the defective Samsung Galaxy S8 units still discovered the same issue on the replacement unit.

According to Samsung's forums, some people had the replaced Galaxy S8 unit for about 10 hours, and it has already restarted 7 times while using the device. The reboot happens when using an app like the camera and Samsung themes. All of the sudden the app freezes, the screen shuts off, and a few seconds later the phone restarts.

As of now, Samsung has not officially addressed this Galaxy S8 matter for the time being. Stay tuned for more updates as the company tries to solve this issue.
