Apple Is Now Providing Deal Partnership To The Fast Growing Lip-Syncing App Musical.ly By Ralphy Bonn Sim | Apr 28, 2017 08:10 PM EDT Reports recently came that Apple is now partnering along with Musical.ly, a lip-syncing video app that's become a popular social network for younger teens. The deal will cover as Apple Music will be providing the songs for the service, in which offers snippets of tracks for users to record themselves pretending to sing while also promoting Apple's own streaming service inside the app. According to Mac Rumors, the partnership comes a Musical.ly expands up to 90 new countries, with their licensing agreements allowing it to increase the number of territories it supports from 30 to 120. The deal was something known for a step up to the Shanghai-based Musical.ly, in which it had previously relied solely on British provider 7digital to provide songs for use in its app, though Musical.ly will still be working with 7digital. The service has been available for three years but experienced a huge boost in its user's base in 2016, as tweens and younger teens started using it as a Snapchat-like social network. Musical.ly claims it now has 100 million users; enough to score it a valuation of $500 million and investment of $100 million last year. According to Tech Crunch, MTV turned to Musical.ly app earlier this month when it started looking for new stars of "My Super Sweet 16," in which a reboot of the mid-2000s show which covers on how about obscenely wealthy teenagers and their birthday parties be like. Musical.ly might not be riding the wave of popularity it once was, as the app has slipped down the iTunes in recent months; which teens can be unpredictable sometimes. The British company's CEO confirmed in several reports that 7digital now powers Musical.ly in 60 countries all around the world.
