Media Create, which tracks video game hardware and software sales in Japan, released data for last week. In the area of software, “Monster Hunter XX,” a Nintendo 3DS game, was number one. In second place is Nintendo Switch game “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.”

For hardware, Nintendo Switch was number one, followed by Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4, Gaming Bolt reported. The top two games, “Monster Hunter XX” and “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” started a collaboration with 7-Eleven stores in Japan. The retail outlets would distribute the new content of the two games such as special gear, quests, and more, Nintendo Does Everything reports.

According to Siliconera, sales of “Monster Hunter XX” for the week April 10-16 was 43,941 to reach total sales of 1,366,093. Capcom had hoped to reach 2 million in March, but despite failing to meet the goal, the game nevertheless kept the top spot. Sales of “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” was 20,888 on Nintendo Switch and 4,740 units on Wii U.

Besides “Monster Hunter XX” and “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” other games within the top 5 are “Mario Sports Superstar” at number 3 with sales of 10,698 units on 3DS. The party game “1-2-Switch” is in 4th place with sales of 10,048 units. In 5th place is “NieR: Automata” which sold 6,265 units.

Despite the impressive numbers of “Monster Hunter XX” and “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” video game software overall sales was quite low. For hardware sales, only Nintendo Switch enjoyed higher sales of 45,673 compared to last week’s 41,193. Since Nintendo Switch was rolled out in Japan on March 3, the number of units of the console sold in the country is now 650,878.
