The recent announcement by HTC includes a five-second teaser along with the tagline, "Squeeze for the Brilliant U." The official announcement came via a tweet from the HTC's official account. Apart from announcing the date, HTC has also confirmed that the smartphone will certainly be called U with the tagline "Squeeze for the Brilliant U" and a five-second teaser video. Interestingly, both the tagline and the teaser confirm the HTC U's most talked about new feature, the Edge Sensor. On May 16, at an event in Taipei, Taiwan, HTC will be announcing its next HTC U flagship. Everyone believes that it will be called the HTC U even if HTC hasn't fully revealed that in a "Save the Date" teaser, according to Droid Life. From the teaser video, it can be learned that HTC has put some type of sensor in the sides of the HTC U which allows it to recognize pressure. With a short squeeze of the phone, users could trigger one action, while a longer squeeze could do something else. This is a clear confirmation of previous rumors which was saying that the HTC U will feature Edge Sense technology which will let users control many features with gestures, according to GSM Arena. The upcoming HTC U flagship is expected to sport killer specs. The smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 64GB or 128GB storage and Android 7.1 Nougat. Additionally, the HTC U will be offered with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage with battery at 3000mAh with Quick Charge 3.0. HTC U flagship is rumored to have connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2, The HTC U flagship is said to come with dual speakers on the top and bottom and the USB Type-C port will support HTC's USonic earphones. In upcoming HTC U, the video and image capture is also said to get a boost with Smart Video Zoom support and real-time HDR scene detection. There will also be four microphones embedded in the phone to record 3D audio or Hi-Res audio. HTC's event to unveil the HTC U will kick off at 2 AM on May 16 or 11 PM on the west coast. It will be live streamed also.
