MacBook Pro 2017 Latest News & Update: High-end 32 GB Variant May Come Armed With Intel Cannon Lake Chipset

By now, most are aware how Apple bombed with the MacBook Pro 2016. They stuck to the Intel Skylake SoCs and paid dearly for it. The good news is that anything can be made up for and it seems that the MacBook Pro 2017 32 GB variant will be it.

The first thing that comes to mind is that the MacBook Pro 2017 will come with the much-longed-for Intel Kaby Lake chipset. But if the recent take of i4u is any good, Apple may have just taken that a notch higher with an Intel Cannon Lake chipset.

For some, hearing about the Intel Cannon Lake chipset may be relatively new. It is considered one of Intel’s first chipsets built with 10 nm process, albeit reducing the power consumption while supporting higher capacity RAM. With the MacBook Pro 2017 expected to pick up the pace in power, it could go well in hand with the speculated DDR memory bump to produce a more powerful machine.

Looking back at the MacBook Pro 2016, most know the emphasis on ideal power consumption being preached by Apple. Now, it seems like the Intel Cannon Lake chipset could fit in perfectly. If so, the added spunk which is likely to be offered via the 32 GB variant of the MacBook Pro 2017 will be something to look forward to. Other potential features of the high-end MacBook Pro 2017 include an AMD Radeon Pro GPU and possibly four USB Type-C ports.

So does this mean that Apple will skip the Intel Kaby Lake chipset for its MacBook Pro 2017 line? Not necessarily. There are still the lower-end versions so the Intel Kaby Lake and Coffee Lake chipsets will likely back those machines, BGR reported.

There is no official word on when the new batch of MacBook Pro 2017 models will come out with most hoping to see them soon. With the disappointment the last batch of MacBook Pros gave, the earliest could be by the fourth quarter of this year or early 2018.
