Sony Xperia Concept Users To Receive Android 7.1.2 Nougat This Week

If you are a user of Sony XPeria X and participating in the Concept program, you will be one of the many to receive the latest Nougat update (Android 7.1.2) this week. Sony announced the news shortly after Google released the new android version to its Nexus and Pixel smartphones.

The updated version of Nougat, according to Phone Arena, will include improvements on swipe gestures performances, as well as the Bluetooth connectivity. The Android 7.1.2 will also bring the new battery usage alerts and other general bug or software fixes. Sony also clarified that the fingerprint scanner performance fix will not be included in the update and issued a warning to those who participating the Concept program that the update could potentially contain bugs.

Aside from the mentioned features, Android 7.1.2 will also bring changes to the setup wizard for Sony Xperia X which will only work when the device is connected to the WiFi. The Japanese tech company suggested that only a small number of users who are using this feature will be affected by the change.

The Sony's Xperia X Concept for Android program was launched in 2015 which allows users to get a sneak peek of the upcoming features that will be added to its smartphones. Similar to the beta program, the Sony Concept program allows users to send their feedback and comments to the company - allowing for further reviews and necessary tweaks before officially release to the public. The program, however, is only available in Europe, specifically to the owners of European single-SIM variant of Sony Xperia X under the model number F5121, Phone More reported.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset with Adreno 510 GPU, the Sony Xperia X is one of the smartphones by Sony released last year. The 2016 model sports 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is expandable through a microSD card. The Sony Xperia X has a 5-inch 1080p display and a 2,620mAh battery. Sony also equipped its Xperia X with a 23-megapixel rear camera, which has predictive autofocus and Full HD video recording capabilities, as well as a 13-megapixel front-facing camera.
