Samsung Galaxy S7 News: Sensible Buyers May Want To Hold On To Samsung Galaxy S8 Predecessor For Now By Joseph Patrick | Apr 19, 2017 03:06 AM EDT Before the Samsung Galaxy S8/ S8 Plus came out, the Samsung Galaxy S7/ S7 Edge had to hold the fort. Instead of a couple of months, the task extended to more than a year no thanks to the disaster the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 had. Traditionally, most folks would want an upgrade to the new model – the Samsung Galaxy S8 pair. But do people really need to upgrade so soon? Will the Samsung Galaxy S7/ S7 Edge be cheaper once the Galaxy S8 is out in the open? There is no denying that the Samsung Galaxy S8 has already made an impression. Given that the Korean company needs to make amends, all of it was expected. With new features imminent, the Galaxy S8 will come at a price. Expected to hit shelves this Friday, the Samsung Galaxy S8 specs include a 5.8-inch super AMOLED display, a bit taller but narrower. The S8+ will have a bigger display at 6.2-inches. Aside from the highly touted display, it will also come armed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage, an impressive 12 MP main camera, 8 MP front-facing camera, a curious voice AI named “Bixby,” iris scanner, fingerprint scanner and a non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Ion battery as detailed on GSM Arena. The suggested retail price will be around $720. There are some notable changes on the Samsung Galaxy S8 but are they relevant to an average consumer? Most know how Samsung packs their devices with groundbreaking technology, the Samsung Galaxy S7/ S7 Edge of which is not lacking. There are some who could whittle down the SRP but maybe not dramatically. In all, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are still sensible phones with advanced features to consider. Depending on the apps used, it still packs a punch in terms of power. The same holds true for the camera, capturing impressive shots and taking high definition videos, Android Authority reported. Upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S8 is an option. But for folks who can hold off on their status symbol, it may be best to re-think wisely getting the latest handset unless there is sufficient reason to do so.
