Nintendo NES Classic Edition Stock UPDATE: Retro Console Available Again But at Hefty Rates By Harsh Soni h_soniji@rediffmail.com | Apr 11, 2017 09:36 AM EDT Nintendo NES Classic Edition has been one of the hardest video game consoles to find in stores since its launch. Retro console lovers are trying each and everything to get their hands on the classic console. But it's now available on Amazon through a third party, for high premium rates. The Nintendo NES Classic Edition that has a regular retail price of $60 since its launch is currently listed on Amazon for $171.95. However, it's also being sold by other retailers WorldWide Distributors and fulfilled by Amazon (AMZN, +1.36%). The Nintendo NES Classic Edition is an upgraded version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System from the 1980s which comes with several of games from that era including "Super Mario Bros.," "Donkey Kong," and "The Legend of Zelda." The retro console plugs into today's televisions via an HDMI cable and comes with a controller, which is tethered to the device. Since its release last year, the NES Classic Edition has been a hit with the gamers. During the holiday season, whenever new units were made available online or at bricks-and-mortar stores, buyers would buy them up in minutes. The same is happening this year also. According to Fortune, for the scarcity of the NES Classic Edition, Nintendo has said that they are manufacturing the console as quickly as possible to fulfill demand. However, Company also agreed that so far, they have been unable to keep up the demand of the retro console. The NES Classic Edition consoles' high demand and limited supply have created an opportunity for small third-party retailers that have some Classic Edition consoles in stock to increase the price. However, some major retailers have still kept the NES Classic Edition's price at $60, but only when they have new units. So buyers are now left with only a few options. People who really want the NES Classic Edition can pay a huge premium and buy the console now. Others who are willing to wait can keep an eye on major retailers and hopefully get the hands on the retro console for $60.
