Samsung Galaxy X Foldable Phone Release Date & News Update: 2019 Launch Confirmed? Samsung Aims To Set New Trend By Staff Writer | Apr 11, 2017 10:07 AM EDT Contrary to earlier reports, Samsung's Galaxy X foldable phone will not be released anytime soon. An informant from Samsung Electronics now claims that the speculated foldable phone may not get released until 2019. According to Korean Herald, Kim Tae-Woong, Samsung Display's principal engineer stated, "Bezel-free display currently sells well, we still have enough time to develop foldable display." The engineer shared that technical challenges for a foldable display still has improvements to be addressed. In line with that, it seems like fans will have to wait a little longer for the anticipated Samsung Galaxy X. An analyst at HI Investment and Securities, Chung Won-Seok had expressed similar sentiments saying, "The company is expected to commercialize foldable phones in 2019 because it does not need to sell the new hardware since its already has 20% of operating profits with the bezel-free display." It has been suggested that Samsung will unveil the Samsung Galaxy X foldable display as its next card when demand for the bezel-free devices slows down. Meanwhile.speculations abound that the Samsung Galaxy X foldable phone will be sporting a 5-inch dispaly. This could fold out to transform into an 7-inch tablet. It has been also rumored to have a bendable OLED panel rather than a flexible one as seen in the Galaxy S7 Edge, as reported by PCA Advisor. Further reports indicate that Samsung Galaxy X is expected to have a 4k (3840 x 2160 pixels) which ensures a high resolution display when folded. It would most likely also house Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835. A dual camera at the rear could also be included as its features. This could also include a microSD card slot but the battery is likely to be not removable. Most details about the Samsung Galaxy X are unknown as of the moment. However, it is speculated that it will eventually debut by 2019. Samsung also states that single foldable phone will likely to be unveiled before the introduction of multi-foldable (both sides) phones.
