‘NBA Playgrounds’ Latest News: Arcade Basketball Returns This May On PS4, Xbox, Switch & PC By Joseph Patrick | Apr 08, 2017 03:57 AM EDT For NBA fans, “NBA 2K” is the first thing that comes to mind when hoop games are mentioned. But before it, there were several games such as “NBA Jam” and “NBA Street” which most basketball addicts have tried during its prime. Now, the arcade style of playing hoops outside wooden courts is back with “NBA Playgrounds.” “NBA Playgrounds” is set to debut next month for most game consoles currently in use. This would include the PS4, Xbox One, PC and even the latest Nintendo Switch. The game will offer games 2-on-2 action featuring both active and retired NBA greats which can be leveled up, PlayStation Lifestyle noted. “NBA Playgrounds” was developed by Saber Interactive and should be a game any NBA-crazed fan should try out. Among the players to watch out include, LeBron James and Steph Curry for active players and legends such as Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal. When one talks about retired NBA players, one can just imagine the massive roster of players this game could have. It remains to be seen if all NBA greats will be also available. Check out the screenshots from Steve Noah via Twitter here. With regards to moves, expect a lot crazy over-the-top dunks and moves which can be played solo, multiplayer or even “against the world,” IGN reported. Compared to “NBA 2K17”, “NBA Playgrounds” is more of a cartoon-like rendition of the popular NBA hoopsters playing with bobble-head-like characters set in a different stage. Could we see the return of “heating up” players when they go on a roll? Available for $19.99, “NBA Playgrounds” should appeal to gamers who want something different from the traditional basketball games dominated by 2K Sports. Cartoonish as the characters may be, it should rekindle old and wild moves from the current and the greats, tickling some fantasies that both new and old players would love to reminisce.
