‘Call of Duty’ Is Now Joining the Mobile Game Industry; King’s ‘Candy Crush’ Will Develop the Action Shooter Game By Ralphy Bonn Sim | Apr 07, 2017 09:46 AM EDT The "Call of Duty" game franchise is about to make another spotlight into the mobile gaming industry. King, the developer best known for their "Candy Crush" series of popular puzzle games is now forming a new team located in Stockholm, Sweden dedicated to making a new mobile game based on the military shooter series. According to Android Police, King was acquired by "Call of Duty" publisher Activision back in 2015 for $5.9 billion. The developer King's plan is to transform the best console experience fans know and love, at the same time attempting to bring something new to the mobile game space. It seems that the team is still very early in development for this title, so fans must expect that it may take a while before the mobile game will be released. Meanwhile, the "Call of Duty" series has lost some of its massive sales on the console platform in the past few years but still undeniably a highly popular game franchise. If ever King can combine the huge name of "Call of Duty" with a pretty a solid first-person shooter experience on tablets and smartphones; it could be a huge success for both publisher and developer, Activision and King. This isn't the first time that Activision has released mobile games in this series. A strategy title called "Call of Duty: Heroes" was released back in November 2014 and still being updated in the Google Play Store. Activision has also published a couple of mobile shooter game based on the Zombies sub-brand of the "Call of Duty" series. According to Android Headlines, the studio's listing indicates its developers are currently in the process of creating a prototype of the game. The company is now looking for four new employees including a senior UI designer, a senior system designer, an art director, and a level designer. It's unlikely that the next "Call of Duty" mobile game will be released anytime soon and probably won't even be officially announced this coming 2018.
