Windows 10 Creators Update: Gathering of Data Creates Privacy Concerns In Favor to Users

Windows 10 is now getting an update this coming April 11; Microsoft will include several new features. The company has raised privacy concerns amongst users and privacy campaigners since users can't turn off diagnostics collection. Amongst these upcoming changes, the revelation of what data giant tech company gathers from its users is the most anticipated.

According to The Verge, Microsoft regularly collects data from personal computers which users are unaware exactly what information is being rooted from them. However, the company now addresses those concerns using the Windows 10 Creators Update. Users can now be enlightened what particulars are collected from them through the two Technet pages the company has published.

The Technet pages illustrate what information is gathered from the basic and full levels of diagnostics; even at the basic level, Microsoft already collects plenty of user particulars. Windows executive vice president Terry Myerson promised Windows 10 users that the company only takes what is necessary for the smooth operation of their devices. Sad to say, despite their gathered data revelation, there's still no way to disable the diagnostics collection.

According to PC World, the Windows 10 update also give users more power over what kind of information they share. The updated privacy dashboard let users turn off or on several privacy settings. One of these is the Diagnostics that users can either set to full or otherwise. By this, users can now choose whether or not they will share their location information or even allow applications to user advertising ID for tailored advertisements.

The previous status states that the privacy concerns over Microsoft's data gathering practices have spurred countries to protect their citizens. France ordered the company to halt tracking of Windows 10 users. Similar to this, the European Union warned users that the latest update is not enough to ease privacy problems. Concerns have led to trust issues that the company is hoping to address with its latest update.
