It is reported that although the new flagship of the tech company still sports the rectangular design of the traditional Xperia series, the device boasts about its display and camera technology. The technology company is also reported t have stated that the new device is equipped with the world's first 4K HDR display for a smartphone. It is believed that the new features in the Xperia X2 Premium are due to the tech company's work with the Bravia range of TVs. In addition to the recent development, it is being reported that Sony is working actively towards making its new flagship the best smartphone in terms of capturing videos. The company intends to achieve this with a camera capable of capturing videos at 960 frames per second and also give users the ability for detailed slow motion playbacks. It is reported by CNBC that Daniel Gleeson, an analyst at Ovum revealed during a phone interview that ahead of the launch event that the new Sony Xperia XZ Premium's major specs are limited as users will have to purchase a subscription service in order to access 4K content. He also states that the slow motion camera incorporated in the device can only capture a tiny snippet of action. The new X2 Premium is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and the developer has stated that it provides the power for the flagship smartphone and, delivers up to 1GBPS downloads speeds. The report also notes that the credit for the download speed goes to the Snapdragon X16 LTE modem incorporated in the device. According to Silicon, the X2 Premium also features a 5.5-inch screen display, Mirror finish in a range of colors, 19-MP rear camera and 13-MP selfie camera, and the highly acclaimed 4K 2160×3840 resolution. The device has 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, quick charging, USB Type-C, and 3230mAh battery with Sony Smart Stamina system. It also sports a fingerprint scanner, a microSD slot, Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and dust and water resistance rated up to the IP68 standard. The X2 Premium will run on Android 7 Nougat, as well as the developer's custom UI on top and it is reported that the new flagship with hit store shelves in late spring.
