American multinational tech company Apple has released a new update for the iPhones weeks after the release of the iOS 10.3. The iOS 10.3.1 was released despite not being announced to Apple users.

People have been wondering why it was not announced unlike what happened with the company's previous updates. In an article published in Forbes, the iOS 10.3.1 update is said t be just a minor update that would fix some bugs and improve slightly the security of Apple products like iPhone and iPad.

The update's content is not just mostly on bug fixes and security improvement. In an article published by Apple Insider, the iOS 10.3.1 also includes compatibility with the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c. The iOS 10.3.1 previous update version removed the compatibility of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c. With the new one, the developers fixed the problem and made sure there is still compatibility.

The reason why the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c compatibility was removed with the previous update of iOS 10.3.1 is because of the processor that they used. The last iPhone models sport an Apple A6 chip, which is a 32-bit processor. Meanwhile, other models after the iPhone 5 has a 64-bit processor. According to the release notes of iOS 10.3.2 beta, the company will soon roll out the updates that would support the 32-bit devices.

The iOS 10.3.1 is a small update if it is going to be compared to the major update iOS 10.3. The iOS 10.3 also officially marks Apple's transition of using the new APFS file system as they used the HFS+ file system for 30 years.

The iOS 10.3.1 update also brings a large number of brand new features like the Find My AirPods service for the innovative earphones, a widget for Podcast, new iCloud section, revamped settings menu, improved animations, and more.

If the Apple user has still not received any notification about the iOS 10.3.1 uodate, one could manually update it. Just go to Settings > General > Software Update on their device.  The new update won't take up so much space since it is just less than 30 MB in size. That said, it would also not take long for users to get the update into their devices.
