Asus Unveils Two Larger Bandwidth GPUS; ROG Strix GTX 1080 OC and GTX 1060 OC By Aboki Basira staff@droidreport.com | Apr 04, 2017 12:26 PM EDT Latest updates reveal that Asus has unveiled two large bandwidth GPUS, ROG Strix GTX 1080 OC and GTX 1060 OC. The new GPUs are upgraded versions of the GeForce GTX 1080 (non-Ti) STRIX and 6 GB GTX 1060 STRIX OC Edition graphics cards. If fans can recall, then they will be able to remember that Nvidia recently gave their Add-in Card (AIC) partners the permission to increase their reference GPU's memory bandwidth as much as they can for their various products. According to reports, Asus seized the golden opportunity and have now unveiled two GPUs, both having increased RAM bandwidths compared to the reference Nvidia GTX cards that they were initially based on. The developer has debuted its new ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 OC and ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1060 OC. It is also reported that these GPUs, which are upgraded versions of the original founder's edition 1080 GPU featuring a higher 11 Gbps bandwidth for its 8 GB of GDDR5X memory, is 1 Gbps larger than the 10 Gbps available on the reference Nvidia GTX 1080 GPU. However, Asus is yet to announce the actual clock speeds for the new card, but it is believed that it will likely feature an increase from Nvidia's edition. According to PCGamer, the new card features an 8+2 power phase design, which suggests that it could be overclocked by a significant amount and also improve overall stability. The Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1060 OC on the other hand also has an increase from its 6 GB of GDRR5 memory, which is now 9 Gbps, while the standard Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 has 8 Gbps bandwidth. Asus has not yet announced its official GPU clock speeds. The new GTX 1080 OC now has a memory bandwidth of 352 GB/s at 11 Gbps, and the GTX 1060 OC now has 216 GB/s bandwidth at 9 Gbps memory. The new GTX 1080 STRIX OC is packed with a max-contact heat-sink base that the developer introduced along with its GTX 1080 Ti STRIX, but Asus did not reveal any detail with regards to pricing, according to Techpowerup. The two cards will also be packed with the developer's custom fan cooling system to aid resist the accumulation of dust on the cards. It is being reported that the cooler expels heat from large aluminum heat sinks that have maximum contact with the chips using copper heat spreaders. The developer has also claimed that the custom fans deliver 30 percent better than the stock coolers on the cards. Other reports have claimed that the cards would likely be available for purchase next month. Read More: Xiaomi Mi 6 Latest Leak Reveal Bigger Screen Than Galaxy S8 And Other Amazing Specs
