Android Wear 2.0 Latest News & Update: Google Pins Blame On Bug, Old Models Left To Wait By Joseph Patrick | Apr 01, 2017 02:30 PM EDT Google’s Android Wear 2.0 was expected as early as the fall of 2016 but eventually made its debut this 2017. The only problem is that only new watches were able to see what the latest OS had to offer as older models were left to wait. Google has confirmed that the reason behind the delay of Android Wear 2.0 for older watches was due to an unspecified bug. The problem was discovered during the final testing which means folks with older wearables will have to wait a bit longer, Engadget reported. Given the time allocated to make the proper testing, there are some who are left wondering why the bug was only found just now. With no choice, folks with older watch models hoping to get an Android Wear 2.0 bump are left in the dark. Among the newer models getting Android Wear 2.0 include Fossil Q Founder, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch WSD-F10, and Tag Heuer Connected. A full list of devices which should get the Android Wear 2.0 update can be found here courtesy of 9 to 5 Google. Despite the disappointment that the delay may have brought, the unspecified bug may not be as severe as most thought. In fact, five more watches have gotten the Android Wear 2.0 bump. The list includes the Polar M600, Nixon Mission, Fossil Q Wander, Fossil Q Marshal and Michael Kors Access in a more recent post from Engadget. Overall, that accounts for almost half of the 19 older watches which were in dire straits following the bug discovery. If all goes accordingly, the wait may not be long for folks wanting to get a piece of the Android Wear 2.0. The update is expected to clean up the way apps work and channel improved ways to hook up standalone apps. One setback though is that Google failed to improve notification management, one of the critical features for smartwatches.
