Android 7.0 Nougat Update is Live Now For Verizon's HTC 10

The rollout of the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the HTC 10 units sold by Verizon is live now. However, this has been a long time coming. Unlocked HTC 10 units sold in the US have been on the new Android version since last year, while other carriers such as T-Mobile and Sprint have already pushed Nougat to their respective models.

And now it's Verizon's turn to update the HTC 10 with Android Nougat. Once you get that coveted update notification, make sure you're on strong Wi-Fi and have enough signal on Big Red's network. After the update, you'll be on build number 2.41.605.12 that will run Android 7.0.

A tweet from HTC's VP of Product Management mentioned about the rollout of Android Nougat update to HTC 10. This should be the last American HTC 10 model to receive the update as the T-Mobile version got it in January, and Sprint in February. However, this update is Android 7.0 Nougat, and not Android 7.1.

As always, an over-the-air rollout such as this may take a few days to reach all the smartphones. So if you're eager then you can also try to manually check for the new release by going to Settings > About Phone.

When updating your phone to a major build like Nougat, you should ensure that you have enough free space on the device, that you're connected to WiFi and to ensure that your phone is connected to power lest it dies mid-update. Details of the android 7.0 Nougat update for HTC 10 can be found on Verizon's website.

During the upgrade process, the device will reboot multiple times and will also show software upgrade screens. Do not remove the AC charger as this might stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable, as per Android Police.
