‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ PC Resolution Analysis; New Patch Has Arrived By Arlene Limsiaco | Mar 21, 2017 09:09 AM EDT "Mass Effect: Andromeda" was now a phenomenal and one of the most-played video games. However, a player should know the technical requirements to have the best gaming experience. "Mass Effect: Andromeda" was the new series of "Mass Effect" that BioWare company developed. From using the Unreal Engine 3 from previous "Mass Effect" series, the company switches the game's engine to DICE Frostbite 3. The reason behind the changes was to improve the character animation and other parts of "Mass Effect: Andromeda". In using the Frostbite 3, the game was able to run on a modern graphics engine. Despite the latest technology, BioWare decided to use the DX11 rather than the DirectX 12 that Frostbite 3 supports. On the other hand, the developer suggests the Intel Core i7 - 4790 or AMD FX 8350 to play the game in PC device. For the graphics concerns, GeForce GTX 1060 3GB or GTX 970 to have a better gaming experience in "Mass Effect: Andromeda". As PC Gamer tested the Eos, one of the most played areas of "Mass Effect: Andromeda", here are the entry-level cards made when it comes to framerates: GTX 1050 and RX 460 - 1080p medium (will not get a full 60 frames per second; GTX 1060 and RX 470 - 1080p ultra (will still see drops that below 60 fps); and GTX 1080 - 1440p ultra (might use for higher than 60 fps, 1070 is much closer), 4k at 60 frames per second. Kotaku recently tested the three standard resolutions: 1080p, 1440p and 4k of "Mass Effect: Andromeda". They used AMD Radeon Crimson Edition Graphics Driver 17.3.2 Hotfix for Radeon GPUs. GeForce Game Ready Driver 378.78 was used to test the Nvidia based GPUs. For the 1080p: GTX 980 Ti delivers 24% more frames with 71fps minimum while the Fury X dropped to 54fps. However, the standard GTX 980 Ti slows at 53 fps. GeForce graphic card was able to deliver a faster and playable performance in R9 and GTX 960. Over 100fps and an average 120 fps were good in Titan XP and GTX 1080. GTX 1070 for 8 fps while RX 480 8GB has the same performance to the 1060 GB. In addition, such as RX 470 and GTX 1050 Ti at 1080p, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will still have a playable performance. For the 1440p: an average of 53 fps and minimum of 46fps for GTX 980 Ti. It was a requirement for the gamers to have R9 390X or GTX 970 to achieve the 30fps. "Mass Effect: Andromeda" game performance can still have a great performance even though the gamer use RX 470, 4GB RX 480 and 3GB GTX 1060. On contrary, GTX 980 Ti on 4k resolution in "Mass Effect: Andromeda" cannot bear to have a playable performance just like the others. It only has an average of 28fps and a minimum of 24 fps. In addition, GTX 1080 has 38 fps average with 33 fps minimum. Resolution settings aside, here's another good news for all the "Mass Effect: Andromeda" gamers. Another new patch arrived for the PC version of the game. This patch was able to address some of the issues and technicalities. These issues include black screen, multiplayer's sound issues and even the improperly function of F-keys. However, animation issues and bags were not included in the new patch.
